Big Wave surfing isn’t just about riding big waves. It’s about the spaces between the big waves too.
Photographer Grant Scholtz understands that intimately. His lens flutters constantly, which means that his body of work has become a kind of archive for our sport. Seen in his images above is one of the younger crew who has taken to jumping off the seal boat and paddling back to the harbor afterwards. Manoah and York presently represent the youngest Outer Kom chargers. Scholtz has also given us a pretty window to look through onto some of the smaller days that we’ve all surfed during these last 2 weeks.
